Chana masala

MAMA’S QUICK CHANNA MASALA

Ingredients

1 cup Garbanzo beans/ chickpeas

1 tbsp channa dal

3 cups water

Salt, to taste

1 black cardamom (1/4 tsp)

1 stick cinnamon (1/4 tsp)

1-2 tsp red chilli powder

1 onion, finely chopped

3-4 green chillies, finely chopped

1 inch piece ginger, peeled and finely chopped

1 tsp coriander powder

1 tsp cumin powder

1 tsp garam masala

2 tbsp oil

2 tea bags

1 bay leaf


In pot, heat oil and bay leaf. 

Stir in onion and sautee, then garlic and spices (cinnamon, cardamon, coriander, cumin, garam masala).

Add 6 cups cooked chickpeas and heat through
